what an amazing week. just had the chance to photograph for a week with photographer tom bol and alaska mountaineering school owner colby combs. the first two days were spent in the "quaint little drinking town with a climbing problem," of talkeetna. then off to camp in peter's hills on the south side of denali. it was raining as we hiked in, but the weather provided us with a beautiful full rainbow over our campsite. the mountain hid itself from our view until we woke in the morning to the incredible site. after camping in the backcountry we headed back to town for an aerial view of the alaska range. then it was on to the matanuska glacier. after a quick lesson in using crampons we were off. tom hauled out his lighting gear for us to practice some adventure sports shooting and colby was happy to go ice climb and give us some perspective on the glacier. a final dinner back in anchorage and we all headed home. overall a great group of people and a week that won't be forgotten.

opportunity
during the madness of SXSW in austin, magnum photographer david alan harvey arrived to teach a workshop entitled the photographic essay. the week was an opportunity to push oneself as a photographer. i'm proud of the resulting images. i was true to myself.
the photo is of david alan harvey and michael hassoun on our last morning of the workshop. the participants gathered to relax, ask questions, and soak in just a bit more time with DAH.
grateful for the experience and opportunity.
