gallery show | 24 hours in austin

Join me at the Holiday Sing-Along and Downtown Stroll, Saturday, December 3.

After you're done caroling with KUT's John Aielli, stop by Austin Details Art + Photo at 8th and Congress, to check out the 24 Hours in Austin Exhibit.

Almost two dozen photographers were assigned to create a portrait of Austin in one typical fall day. They amassed a remarkable body of work that showcases the city from many vantage points, starting at 6pm on October 14 for the next 24 hours. Their 40 large museum-quality prints are on view for the December exhibit at Austin Details.

Opening Reception:  Saturday, December 3, 6-9 pm

I have two photos in the exhibit and hope to see you there!

nothing for the portfolio, but i had fun playing with settings on the camera, realizing there is a light meter inside, and learning how to focus with the rangefinder vs. a through the lens slr camera.  i'm not going to try and explain. here are a few articles on rangefinder vs. slr cameras....

LOOK3 | festival of the photograph

highlights of look3....

meeting and working with christopher anderson on a photo project for a week. {chris is a down to earth once texan, with an enviable photographic eye.  he really helped me see photography in a way others haven't. watching him edit student work and weave together photographic stories was exactly what i needed to kickstart a personal project i've been having a hard time tackling.  more on this project soon...}

the essay as shown at LOOK3.  i'll do a post later with a longer edit and some background info.

borrowing a Leica M9 for 3 days and loving it.  {seriously...i get the cultish leica following now...i want to join}

artist interviews.  {nan goldin's interview with sally mann changed the way i view her work.  seeing ashley gilbertson's passion, anger, and grief when speaking of his photographic subjects was inspiring. he towed the line on the nerve touching subject of war and kept the presentation non-political.  pro or anti war and you realize the photos are about people. christopher's anderson's presentation of his new work, SON, was deeply personal and a great reminder that stories close to home are compelling, rich, and should be shared}

gallery shows. {world press 2011 was a standout, as well as PRIME collective,  and LUCEO images}

friends, food, drinks, and parties, in c-ville!

moo.com and SXSW

i love my moo business cards and they are often complimented.  i think of them as relatively inexpensive little promo cards.  since i can upload multiple photos in a single batch i can offer an appropriate card to each different type of client i encounter.

right now if you order by march 6th, you have the opportunity for free shipping to austin!  moo is bringing your cards to the austin convention center on march 12, 13, or 14 just in time for SXSW clients.

i'm off to order, my last box is empty!
